A tiny portion of the the sacbé is visible in the lower left of the photo, aiming for the flight of stairs leading to the new throne room.

The remains of a small stone stairway which once led to the second story can be seen here between the first and second doors of the palace.

A Vision Serpent on corner frieze

In addition to the vision serpent, the collapsing frieze was once decorated with volutes and stepped clefts representing the mountain of creation, the Yaxal Witz.

Other architectual elements include classic Puuc medial molding as well as banded columns included as elements of the facade. Also note the high raised platform creating the courtyard supporting the building.
