Stela 14: Lord Chaak looks to the left from under his headdress of feathers

Stela 14

Lord Chaak stands on a bicephalic jaguar throne with two bound captives at the base. He is attired in rich jade and looks fiercely to the left from underneath a massive headdress of opulent quetzal feathers. He wears a bone through his nose and holds a regal God Kawiil staff across his body.

While informally known as Chan Chaak K'ak'nal Ajaw, hieroglyphs found on Stela 14 at Uxmal give his full name as K'ahk' Pulaj Chan Chaahk or "The Chaak that Burns the Sky with FIre," i.e., the storm god of thunder and lightening.
