Stela P

Copan Stela P portraying the 11th ruler of Copan, uz' Chan, and stands in front of Temple 16, but was erected when Rosalila, the temple now covered by Temple 16, was still in use.

Stela P portrays the 11th ruler of Copan, Buz' Chan, and now stands in front of Temple 16. It was originally erected when Rosalila, the temple now covered by Temple 16, was still in use.

Buz' Chan, 11th ruler of Copan, appears dressed in the royal costume of K'inich Yax K'uk' Mo', the first ruler and founder of Copan. Today Stela P stands in front of Temple 16 in the Acropolis, but it was erected when Rosalila, the temple now covered by Temple 16, was still in use.

Stela P was dedicated on March 21, 623 C.E. It looks archaic compared to 18-Rabbit's extravagantly baroque stelae erected in the Great Plaza about 100 years later.
